Bad Links? | County gets tougher on ethics lawsBy JOHN THOMPSON By a unanimous vote, the Coweta County Commission decided to add a little strength to its ethics policy. The measure was first introduced by Commissioner Leigh Schlumper, who wanted to clear up any appearance of impropriety by any sitting or former County Commissioner. The new policy restricts any current commissioner from serving on any other elected or appointed board during his term of office. The policy also restricts members of a commissioners immediate family from serving on any board while the commissioner is in office. The other issue addressed in the revised policy concerns commissioners who have ended their tenure on the board. The policy now forbids any commissioner from serving on any board until two years has passed since they left office. |
