Duncan and Glaucia McLauchlan to Take Stage at St. Patrick's Day Festival
Among the many talented performers who will grace the stage at Stars on the Southern Crescent's third annual St. Patrick's Day Festival in Fayetteville are Duncan and Glaucia McLauchlan, a gifted couple appearing for the first time at this popular Southside coffee house.
Duncan is a Scottish singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a wealth of experience in many genres of music. Glaucia, a spirited percussionist from Sao Paulo, Brazil, brings drive and power to the combo. Their music has aired internationally on the world-famous "Thistle and Shamrock" show, and on radio stations across the country, including Atlanta's WRFG Celtic Show.
The Duncans will perform March 10, the opening night of the three-day celebration which takes place at the Fayette Family YMCA, 215 Huiet Road. In addition to the Duncans, the Thursday show includes two of Stars favorite groups: Barney's Goat and the Lost Boys.
The Friday, March 11, line-up features Moira Nelligan, in her second appearance at Stars, playing traditional Irish and American roots music on her fiddle and accordion; the Peachtree Wind Ensemble, a local community band playing a medley of Irish tunes; and Long Drop. Long Drop, a neo-traditional Atlanta-area Irish band new to Stars, combines fresh arrangements of vintage and contemporary Irish songs with a blend of fiddle and flute-driven jigs and reels. The group has performed at pubs, festivals, parties, coffeehouses and concerts around the Southeast.
On Saturday, March 12, the featured performers are KnightSong and Three Quarter Ale, both of whom have previously played at the coffee house to enthusiastic audiences. KnightSong offers beautiful a capella melodies from the Renaissance era, while Three Quarter Ale combines the best of seventeenth-century madrigals, modern and traditional Celtic music, and bluegrass with the high-energy impact of modern folk-rock
