Bad Links? | Patriots end season in overtime of state semifinalThe 2004-2005 season ended for the Sandy Creek boys varsity basketball team as the Patriots fell to the Tucker Tigers 75-71 in overtime. Down by 18 at one point in the first half, Sandy Creek valiantly fought back in the second half and took their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter. With 19 seconds left Sandy Creek had a three point lead but Tucker tied the game with a huge three pointer. In overtime, Tucker scored the first four points and Sandy Creek had to chase them for the rest of the period. In the end, the Patriots ran out of gas and lost. Sandy Creek boys play in final four tomorrowThe Sandy Creek Patriot varsity boys basketball team has been playing all season with this week in mind. If all goes right, there are two games left in the 2004-2005 season, one against Tucker on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and one against the winner of Griffin and Mays on Friday. Both games will take place at the Gwinnett Arena and Coach Darrell Evans is hoping to get a big crowd supporting the team. To get to Arena at Gwinnett Center, Take I-85 to the Highway 120 Exit West. Turn right on Satellite Boulevard and the center will be on your left. You can also take the Sugarloaf Parkway exit, turn right off the exit, go back under the interstate and cross over Satellite Boulevard. The center will be on your left. Patriots make final fourThe Sandy Creek Patriots created some distance against Bainbridge in the third quarter of their state playoff game last night. Thanks to double-digit performances from several players Sandy Creek pushed the lead to as many as 20 points at one point. The final score was 64-47 and the win puts them in the Elite Eight against Baldwin on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. A win in that game moves them to the final four on Wednesday against either Columbia or Tucker. Sandy Creek's girls take on Northside- Warner Robins this afternoon at 4 p.m. If they win, they will meet the winner of Jones County and Warner Robins tomorrow at 7 p.m. Sandy Creek's games this weekend are being held at the Columbus Civic Center.
