Bad Links? | Several Gym South teams do very well at big eventsThe level 3 girls team from Gym South placed second last weekend at the Mardi Gras Invite in Kennesaw, Ga. Aliyah Reeves placed first on vault, fourth on bars, third on beam and all-around and second on floor. Ansley McDaniel placed second on vault and fifth on beam and all-around. Sarah McCullough won the vault, bars and all-around and placed third on the beam. Hannah Hancock placed sixth on the vault and bars, fifth on all-around, second on the beam and third on floor. Emerald Hoe placed second on the vault, fourth on the bars, beam and all-around and fifth on floor. Deja Carter-Jackson placed third on the vault, first on the bars, sixth on the beam, fourth on floor and second all-around. Mackenzie Carlson placed first on vault, beam, and all-around and placed second on bars and floor. Gym Souths level 2s competed in their first meet this past weekend at the Mardi Gras Invite. Tyler Hicks won the all-around in her first meet and also placed fourth on vault, third on bars and second on beam and floor. Brenna Elliott placed first on vault, fourth on bars, fifth on beamm, eighth on floor and second all-around. Anaia Hood placed sixth on vault, eighth all-around and third on beam. Ashleigh Bailey placed third on vault, fifth on bars and all-around, fourth on beam and seventh on floor. Rachel Llewellyn placed 10th all-around. Aspen Nidey placed ninth on bars, sixth on beam, and 12th all-around. Tsali Nidey, placed fifth on vault and 10th on bars, floor and all-around. Katie Smith placed first on bars and ninth on floor. The Level 6-10 boys team just got from Oakland, Calif. where they competed in the Pacific Coast Classic, Feb 18-20. The meet was a great competition with some of the best gyms in the nation participating in the event. The boys competed well with the Level 10 team placing fifth and individuals also having success. Brandon Akins: finished second in parallel bars, first in high bar and first all-around, AJ Thompson place ninth on rings and eighth all-around. Jeremy Adams took seventh in high bar and 10th all-around He also qualified to the finals in high bar. Brian Smith placed 15th in rings, Bryan Gibbs took 17th in parallel bars, Jake McPherson placed 19th in rings, Jared Breeden took 18th in high bar, Lee Wilkerson placed 15th in floor, Chris Nelms took 16th in pommel horse, Chas Van De Motter took 10th in high bar, Jason Smith finished 13th in high bar and Travis Armstrong placed 12th in high bar. The boys team will compete again on March 4-6 in the Peachtree Men's Invitational in Tucker, Ga. |
