Bad Links? | Club raising money with clay shooting tournamentThe Rotary Club of Fayetteville is hoping that shooting enthusiasts will come out to the Cherokee Rose Resort in Griffin, Ga. on Friday, Mar. 4 for a sporting clay tournament to raise money for local charities. This is the first year for the event and Rotary members are hoping that it becomes a beloved annual event. The Rotary Club of fayetteville supports numerous local charities including The Joseph Sams School, Fayette Youth Protection Homes and Fayette County Teacher of the Year among others. All of the money they raise goes back out to local charities and the sporting clay event could be a big fundraiser. In addition to the shooting competition, there will be door prizes, dinner and a raffle. Raffle tickets are $20 and entrants will be trying to win one of two shotguns donated by Autrys Armory in Fayetteville. The two guns that are being raffled off are a Beretta 391 and a Benelli Nova. Some of the prizes that will be available as door prizes will be car washes, range passes at Autrys Armory and numerous products that have been donated by Wal-Mart. The tournament has also greatly benefited from sponsorships from local companies including Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Southern Regional Medical Center, Gene Evans Ford and Hennessy Jaguar among others. Entry fees for the tournament are $500 per team (four people per team) or $125 per person (person will be placed on a team). The fee includes shells, a meal and the entry fee. Trophies will be awarded for high team score, high individual score and low team score. Make checks payable to the Rotary Club of Fayetteville.
