Bad Links? | Clayton State seeking used bicycle donationsThe Clayton State Department of Pubic Safety, in cooperation with the Clean Air Campaign and the Atlanta Regional Commission, is looking for a few good used bikes to be used around campus to save faculty, staff and students from driving their personal vehicles. The donated bikes will be painted a uniform bright color and can be picked up and dropped off at several places around campus, said John Shiffert, university spokesman. The approach has been used successfully at other college campuses, not only help the environment but also to encourage exercise. This initiative is certainly a move in the right direction towards getting folks more physically active on a daily basis, said Cindy Lauer, director of Clayton States SmartBodies Fitness & Wellness Center. The Clayton College & State University Foundation accepts gifts in-kind, allowing individuals to receive a tax deduction for their bike donations. For more information on how to make a donation, call Joan Murphy at 770-961-3540. |
