Bad Links? | Cellphones collected for soldiersA local church is collecting cellphones in a campaign to fund the purchase of prepaid long-distance phone cards for soldiers serving in the Iraq war. Fayette Community Church, located in the old dollar movie theater behind Mrs. Winners on Ga. Highway 85, will accept the used cellphones from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Organizers also plan to have a drop box outside for those needing to do so after hours. The cellphones will be sold, with money going to the national Cell Phones for Soldiers campaign, started by a 13-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother in Norwell, Maine after they heard about a soldier who ran up a $7,000 cell phone bill. |
