Fantastic Sams Salons at Banks Crossing and Summit Point Shopping Centers are up in arms for a good cause, with the must-have fashion accessory of the year.
The salons are selling Fantastic Friends bracelets to raise money for Locks of Love, a national nonprofit organization that helps hundreds of financially disadvantaged children who suffer from long-term medical hair loss. The bracelet, made of silicone rubber in an electric blue shade, retails for $1 and 100 percent of the proceeds go to Locks of Love.
"We're a family-focused business and contributing to Locks of Love is our way of supporting other families who need our help and support," said Billy Kravtin, owner of both Fayetteville Fantastic Sams. "We're doing it in a fun and affordable way so everyone can participate and support this great cause.
"Wristbands like the Fantastic Friends bracelet that are tied to a charitable cause are more than just the latest fad or trend. They give people the opportunity to give back and participate in a larger social issue," said Kravtin.
The bracelets, which were worn by celebrity hair stylist Bryant Renfroe and Locks of Love kid Daria Castrogivanni on the daytime talk show "The View," are available in youth and adult sizes and will be on sale until September 2005.
Fantastic Sams has partnered with Locks of Love, a national nonprofit organization that helps hundreds of financially disadvantaged children who suffer from long-term medical hair loss by providing them with custom-fitted hairpieces. Now in its sixth year, Locks of Love has helped children regain their confidence with its prosthetic hairpieces. Each hairpiece is hand-assembled from human hair donations from all across the country, thanks to the publicity Locks of Love has received from newspapers, magazines and television programs. More than 80 percent of the donors are children, making this a charity where kids have the opportunity to help other kids.
