Bad Links? | County has several wrestlers earn top finishes at state meetsBy MICHAEL BOYLAN The state wrestling tournaments took place over the weekend and the local wrestling teams did well. In the AAAAA tournament in Macon, Starrs Mill placed eighth overall while Fayette County placed ninth. State placers for Starrs Mill, meaning wrestlers who finsihed sixth or better were Stephen Savage (125) and Patrick Kellerman (160), both of whom finished in third place and Jeff Partlow (189) who placed fifth. Fayette Countys Drake McCoy was a state champion in the 275 pound weight class once again while Donte Douglas (130) placed fourth and Matt Dyer (215) placed sixth. For those who couldnt make it to Macon, the AAAAA finals will be broadcast on Comcast Sports Southeast on Monday, Feb. 21 at 9 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 2:30 p.m. In the AAAA state tournament in Rome, McIntosh placed 29th, Sandy Creek placed 49th and Whitewater placed 59th. McIntoshs Richard Hughes (103) was the only state placer among the three schools. He finished in fourth place. |
