Mary G. Vance

Mary G. Vance,91, Fayette County, died Feb. 4, 2005. She was born Aug. 3, 1913 in Hazleton, Pa. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vance. A memorial mass was at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children, Trudy and William Dreisbach, Fayetteville, and Alice and John Como, Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, John and Melinda Dreisbach, McDonough, and Mary and David Kitchens, Sharpsburg; great-grandchildren, Emily and Kelsey Kitchens, Sharpsburg; and a sister, Claire Bonner, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Memorial donations may be made to the Community Health Foundation, 213 Third Street, Macon, GA 31201.

Audrey Bernandine Stringer

Audrey Bernandine Stringer, 75, Fayetteville, died Feb. 6, 2005. She was born June 14, 1929 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Ky. A private family service was held. Survivors include her husband, Wayne A. Stringer, Fayetteville; daughters, Sandy and Tom Nickell, Fayetteville, and Janet and Costa Colbert, Houston, Texas; a grandson, Josh and Katie Nickell, Senoia; stepmother, Louise Gillispie, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a step-brother, John Stansberry, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, Snowden V. Gillispie; a brother-in-law, Don and Mary Jo Stringer, Lexington, Ky.; sisters-in-law, Alma and Bob Polk, New Castle, Ind., and Betty and Millard Goggin, New Lisbon, Ind.; and faithful pet, Mickey. Charles Edward Whitener Sr., 60, Jackson, died Feb. 8, 2005. He was born Dec. 19, 1944 in Columbus. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Travis Sheppard officiating. Interment was at Manchester Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include his son, Eddie and Lita Whitener, Gay; daughters, Teresa and Keith Prevatt, Newnan, and Patricia and Herman Turner, Jackson; a stepson, J. J. Wanda Sue Backes, 79, Peachtree City, died Feb. 8, 2005. She was born Sept. 8, 1925 in Philadelphia, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick G. Backes. Services were at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Walsh officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include sons, Frederick Backes, and Robert Backes, both of Peachtree City; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bud Gerding, Ventura, Calif. Carl J.
