Bad Links? | Promise Place event reset for Mar. 6Promise Place, the Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence, is offering a volunteer training class Sunday, Mar. 6, at 3 p.m. in Fayetteville. This date is to replace the previously scheduled Feb. 20 class, which has been canceled due to the Fayette County Schools winter break. Promise Place, is a nonprofit organization which serves over 400 women and 500 children in Fayette County each year who are victims of domestic abuse. There are numerous opportunities to serve including answering the crisis line, working in the Teen Dating Violence Education Program in the Fayette County schools, general clerical work, serving on the speakers bureau, and helping to organize the cell phone drive. Volunteers are also needed to help make upcoming fundraising events successful, including a mystery Who Done It? play presented by OffShoot Productions with dessert and coffee April 16-17 to be held at the Roger Spencer Community Center in Tyrone, and a 5K Run from Domestic Violence to be held in Peachtree City June 11. Proceeds from both events will go toward building a much needed emergency shelter for victims of domestic abuse and their children. For more information or to register for the training class, call Promise Place at 770-460-1604 or e-mail promiseplace@bellsouth.net. |
