Offshoot Productions has announced four lively acting workshops to be held in February and March at the Fayette Family YMCA, 215 Huiet Road, Fayetteville. Three of the workshops are designed for adults and teens ages 15. No previous experience is required to participate.
On Sunday, February 13, "Object Lessons: Actors and Their Props" will be held from
3:30 to 6:30 p.m. This workshop focuses on how to use "things" - props and set pieces - and "stage business" to develop and reveal character on stage.
"Text and Subtext" takes place on Sunday, March 13, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Here, participants will explore various approaches to understanding both the play script and the emotions that lie beneath the words.
The third workshop is slated for Saturday, March 19, from 2 to 5 p.m. In "Auditioning with Confidence," instructors help participants face the challenges of auditioning, from prepared monologues to cold readings, head shots and resumes.
Each of the workshops above costs $35.
In addition, a workshop for children aged 8 to 14, "Which Way is Up? Becoming Comfortable on Stage," will be held Saturday, March 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The fee for this workshop is $25. Early registration is encouraged, as enrollment is limited to ensure individual attention.
