Keller Williams Cares invests $3,000 into communityThe Peachtree City Keller Williams Realty Market Center helped their international charity organization, Keller Williams Cares, raise more than $722,121 last year. The money raised touched the lives of many people throughout the United States. Through donations, dedication of time, and compassion for others, Keller Williams Cares hopes to help make the world a better place. With help from agents and other members of the local community, the Keller Williams Cares Committee in Peachtree City raised over $3,000.00 in 2004. "It's so humbling to be a part of such a great organization, said Jackie Young, head of the Peachtree City committee. We have had so many wonderful opportunities to help members of our community and beyond, and hope to do even more in 2005." In July they hosted a yard sale. The proceeds were used to buy school supplies for children in Fayette County. In August, Gary Lawson, a Peachtree City attorney, matched the money collected from a raffle held at a local meeting. KW Cares held a bake sale, which raised money to send coloring books and crayons to the children in Florida who lost everything in the hurricanes last summer. In October they had a karaoke costume party and used the money for treat bags for children in the area. Every December a charity auction is held at their company Christmas party. Thanks to Keller Williams Realty Professionals, some local children had great big smiles on their face that Christmas morning. The proceeds from the auction went to gifts for those children. Further funds bought printers to go along with computers purchased by another local company for children in need. "Whether we put a collection jar at the front desk or host a big event, we are grateful that our efforts might bring happiness to others," said Kina Surfus, a member of the committee. Keller Williams Cares helped a lot of people in 2004 and plans to help even more in 2005. "Our goal for this year is to raise $10,000, said Ginger Uhl, broker at Keller Williams. Imagine how many people we could help." They have events planned for the year and are open to suggestions from the community.
