Wieland wins national awardIts official: one of the southeasts leading homebuilders is now the best in the nation. So says Builder magazine and the National Association of Homebuilders, which has named John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, Americas Best Builder. Selected from more than 70,000 builders registered with the National Association of Homebuilders, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods was selected as Americas Best Builder 2005 by a panel of award judges to be blueprints for success in home building. The industry-leading publication recognized John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods for producing well-designed, high caliber homes, their commitment to quality, customer service, outstanding fiscal performance, unsurpassed warranty, award-winning marketing campaigns, deep rooted community service programs, nationally ranked training programs and being a one-of-a-kind vertically integrated company. "Most builders excel in one discipline, be it customer service, great product design, construction know-how, or financial planning," said Boyce Thompson, editorial director of Builder, the leading magazine for the residential building industry. "This company manages to do it all. That takes incredible energy and focus." The company takes an in-house approach to nearly every aspect of homebuilding. Uniquely, it has capabilities in land acquisition and development, architecture, foundations and grading, environmental services, cabinet, window and door manufacturing, building material supply, interior design, sales and marketing, landscaping, and mortgage services among others. Wieland is the founder and chief creative officer for the company he founded 35 years ago. He built his success in the business world one brick at a time. And plank, and nail, and bolt. Now, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods is the leading builder of move-up and semi-custom homes in the Southeast, closing more than 1,800 homes with $730 million in revenues in 2004. Building in Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, Charleston, Nashville, and its newest market in Louisville, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods has won the triple crown of awards including National Builder of the Year, National Housing Quality Award and Americas Best Builder. It is an honor to be recognized as Americas Best Builder, and we are grateful to be among the top builders in America who have shared this award. We have a remarkable team that executes with a high attention to detail and discipline. We are looking forward to continuing to create fine homes in wonderful neighborhoods with a true focus on the customer, said Wieland. The people at Wieland homes are committed to delivering a remarkable home buying experience for every home and every neighborhood. Wieland changed the name of the company in 2000 by adding Neighborhoods. Each neighborhood is thoroughly planned, targeted and executed according to the type of customer. The plans begin with extraordinary entrances; remarkable amenities and land plan to a deliberate architectural streetscape. All indications are that this customer-focused philosophy is working. John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods today boasts more than 22,000 satisfied homeowners after building just 25 homes in his first year of business. With more than 1,000 full-time employees and thousands of Trade Partners, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods builds and sells traditional single family detached homes, townhomes, condominiums and cluster homes ranging from $190,000 to more than $1,000,000. More than 500 awards have been accumulated in the companys 35-year history. It has been a tremendous pleasure to watch this company grow through the years, said Terry Russell, Wieland CEO. We have assembled an incredible team, capable of almost anything. John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods has led the way in design trends through the years beginning with sunrooms, major spa master baths, and open floor plans all the way to a state-of-the-art Design Center. We are even improving on our Design Center concept in 2005 as we open a 15,000-square-foot Design Center in Charlotte and a 20,000-square-foot Design Center in Atlanta, as we look for ways to make the home buying experience even more remarkable. But the companys approach does not end at the closing table. Wieland and his company members are dedicated to giving back to the community where it builds and works. Success in business has allowed the company to extend a hand beyond the millions of dollars donated to charitable organizations. It has provided the opportunity to utilize Wielands specialized construction skills and knowledge to fight homelessness. Some of its marked contributions include the donation and construction of 28 Habitat for Humanity homes, the donation of an 11-unit apartment building to the Atlanta Union Mission, the Families First Building for teenage mothers and their babies, and the Wieland Wildlife Home at Zoo Atlanta to name a few.
