Bad Links? | Prince of Peace announces Ash Wednesday schedulePrince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fayetteville will observe Ash Wednesday tonight with services at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the Lenten season, which is 40 days before Easter Sunday (not including Sundays). A pancake supper will be served from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. The cost is $2 for adults and teens and $1 for children. The 6 p.m. service is especially designed for families with smaller children. During this service, the younger childrens choir, the Cherubs, ages 3 to 1st grade, will sing. Communion will be served at both services. Ashes also will be placed in the form of a cross on the foreheads of those who wish to participate. The ashes are traditionally made from the burning of the palms from last years Palm Sunday service. Pastor Justin Kollmeyer invites all believers to partake of Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes. Prince of Peace will conduct mid-week Lenten services on each of the Wednesdays prior to Easter with the exception of Wednesday, Feb. 23. Kollmeyer will expand on the sermon series, The Life Youve Always Wanted, during the Wednesday Lenten services. The series, which begins on Sunday, Feb. 13, is based on the best-selling book by John Ortberg. I truly believe this series will be one of the best weve ever done. I encourage our members to be here each Sunday and to bring other families with them as we explore the themes of The Life Youve Always Wanted, said Kollmeyer.
