Another not-so-old commercial building in Peachtree City will be headed to the bulldozer in the near future.
A redevelopment plan approved Monday night by the Planning Commission allows for the razing of the vacant Pizza Hut/KFC building in the Kedron Village shopping center. In its place will be a 3,100 sq. ft. building for United Community Bank.
The Fairburn company will use the current parking and drive-through layout and is committing to replacing the landscaping on the site, said attorney Rick Lindsey, representing the bank. The company will also remove the underground grease trap and reconfigure the lighting on the site.
The bank has already responded to a complaint of vandalism on the site that had gone uncorrected by the previous owner, Lindsey said. The site was purchased by the bank in December, he added.
Lindsey said the buildings architecture would be a colonial style and will require no additional impervious surface.
A previous redevelopment plan for the parcel called for a gas station, but a right-in access curb cut was sought on Peachtree Parkway, a detail that irked some on the planning commission. That plan was ultimately approved, but it was clear the commission thinks the bank use will be better for the property.
In other business, the commission approved a conceptual site plan for a three-building office complex on Shakerag Hill. The buildings total 22,500 sq. ft. in size on the 2.37 acre site.
Also approved was a landscape plan for the second phase development of an office-warehouse building at the intersection of Kelly Drive and Dividend Drive.
