Fire empties LowesBy LEE WILLIAMS Dozens of customers and employees were evacuated after a small fire broke out in an electrical unit of Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse of Fayetteville off Ga. Highway 314 about 7 p.m. Thursday. Units from the Fayetteville Fire Department arrived just minutes after a call for help was placed at 6:54 p.m. Units from the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services also responded to Lowes, in accordance with the joint Automatic Mutual Aid Pact, officials said. Officials at the scene reported the fire started in one of the air conditioning units. The fire caused minimal damage, according to officials. No injuries were reported. It was minor, said John Lapari, a manager at the home improvement supercenter. It really wasnt anything at all. We were just taking precautionary measures. The store reopened shortly after the incident Thursday. Lapari assured customers the store is still open for business. |
