ObituariesVirginia Waites HarrisVirginia Waites Harris, 93,Christian City, died Jan. 7, 2005. She was born Nov. 6, 1911 in Fulton County. She was an excellent cook and will be remembered for her good sense of humor and generosity. Services were at Carmichael-Hemperley chapel with Minister Billy Rose officiating. Interment was at College Park Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Robert W. and Andy Harris, Sharpsburg; a daughter, Rebecca Harris Jones, Sharpsburg; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. Betty Doris McGeeBetty Doris McGee, 68, Senoia, formerly of Forest Park, died Jan. 12, 2005. She was born March 7, 1936 in Homer, Georgia, daughter of Ruben and Annie Mae Reese. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Thomas Eugene McGee, a daughter, Vickie Darlene Brooks, three brothers, and three sisters. She later moved to Forest Park where she spent most of her life. She spent most of her life volunteering and in service to God. She was a member of Woolsey Baptist Church, Fayetteville, and was in charge of the Devotion Class at the Shellnut Senior Citizens Group. Services were at Jones Funeral Home chapel with interment at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Palmetto. Survivors include a son, Dr. Joseph Edgar and Robyn McGee; brothers, Robert J. and Linda Reese, Thomas D. and Marsha Reese, and Edgar D. and Carol Reese; a sister, Linda and Billy McFarlin; grandchildren, Shane Brooks, Joseph McGee Jr., Shauna Brooks, Courtney Sennett, and Jeremy Brooks; great-grandchildren Sean, Connar, Chloe, Makagan, Kaylee, Alissa, and Tristen. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge. James Marvin ColeJames Marvin Cole, 84, Sharpsburg, died Jan. 16, 2005. He was born April 3, 1920 in Sharpsburg, the son ofÊ Inis M. and Olive Bridges Cole. He was a veteran of the United States Navy in World War II, serving in the Atlantic and the Pacific from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of Sharpsburg Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon in 1938. He served on the Sharpsburg City Council for over 50 years and served on the board of Farmers and Merchants Community Bank for 12 years. He was a partner and proprietor of Bridges and Cole Store in Sharpsburg. Graveside services were at Sharpsburg Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Watson Mills officiating. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Betty Cole, Sharpsburg; a son, Clay and Rachel Cole, Sharpsburg; a daughter, Cheryl and Larry Hyde, Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Blue and Rhonda Cole, Bret Cole, and Cameron Hyde; and great-grandchildren, Erica Tate, Ethan Tate, and Ansley Cole. |
