Theatre apprentice program in the works for winter

Offshoot Productions will select several apprentices for its winter-spring programming, which includes “But Was It Murder?” and the St. Patrick's Day Festival at Stars on the Southern Crescent coffee house.

Apprentice applicants should be sixteen or older. Occasionally, exceptions are made for mature, younger apprentices on a case-by-case basis. Apprentices attend in-depth acting workshops and gain hands-on experience in technical theatre. They also work alongside professional cast members who mentor them. Apprentices may focus on either performance or technical aspects of theatre.

Auditions and interviews will be held January 25 and 27, from 6:45 to 9:45 p.m., and January 30, from 2-5 p.m. at the Fayette Family YMCA.  Those interested in apprenticing should call or e-mail to set up an appointment. Application forms are available from the Offshoot office and will be sent through the mail, e-mailed or faxed. They may also be downloaded from Offshoot's web site, www.offshoot.org.
