ObituariesRichard R. HorningRichard R. Horning, 47, Peachtree City, died Jan. 9, 2005. He was born Feb. 3, 1957 in Garfield Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Rane Horning. He attended schools in Brecksville, Ohio where he participated in varsity sports and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended the United States Air Force Academy where he received the Boy Scouts of American Medal of Merit, and an Air Force Commendation Medal for saving a life. After graduation in 1979 he piloted KC-135s for the Strategic Air Command, and served as both a flight instructor and incident investigator, rising to the rank of captain. A commercial pilot since 1986, he piloted the 737 for Western Airlines and the 737, 757, and 767 for Delta Air Lines. He was actively involved in the Peachtree City community, assisting at Kedron Elementary School, and was assistant coach of his daughters soccer team. He was a member of the Peachtree City Running Club, serving as race director for the 1999 and 2000 Peachtree City Classis. In December, 2004, he was one of the first members inducted into the clubs Hall of Fame. He completed several marathons, including the 1996 Boston Marathon. In July, 2004, he was selected to participate in the 2004 Olympic Torch Relay in Atlanta. J.B. KingJ. B. Billie King, 103, Reidsville, N.C., died Jan. 10, 2005. She was born May 5, 1901 in Jones County, Miss. Graveside services were at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, with the Rev. Jim Dyer officiating. Mary Magdalene TysonMary Magdalene Tyson, 89, Fayetteville, died Jan. 11, 2005. She was born Jan. 18, 1915 in Monroe County, Ga. |
