Girl survives fall from apartment windowBy LEE WILLIAMS A 3-year-old girl was injured when she fell from the second-story window of an apartment complex on Las Brasis off Georgian Park in Peachtree City while children played nearby Thursday. Details surrounding the information were sketchy at presstime, but according to information from the Peachtree City Police Department children were playing upstairs with the 3-year-old when the incident occurred at 3:01 p.m. According to reports, the window was closed and the screen was in place, so no one really knows what happened, Maj. Mike Dupree said. When police got there, the window was open and the screen was pushed out. Dupree speculated that the children might have opened the window. The 3-year-old fell 12 feet to the ground. The mother and father, whose names were unavailable, were at home at the time of the accident. Police have been unable to interview the parents, Dupree said. A Rescue Air One medical helicopter based out of Falcon Field in Peachtree City was dispatched to the scene and landed at Kroger in Kedron Village. The child was transported to Egleston Childrens Hospital in Atlanta. The extent of the childs injuries was unavailable. However, Dupree said the child was conscious and alert and answering questions appropriately before she was transported to the hospital. Dupree said no charges will be filed against the parents for neglect. There is no indication that there would be any charges, Dupree said. Its just a very unfortunate situation. |
