On Thursday Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. Southern Conservation Trust is hosting a Nature Discovery Program on winter hummingbirds at the Flat Creek Nature Center in Peachtree City. Rusty Trump of the Georgia Hummer Study Group will describe the hummingbird species that winter here, how to attract them and their groups research about hummer migration.
Like the rest of the Southeast we have hummingbirds in our area all year long, reported Trump. Only the ruby-throated hummingbird breeds here, but eight other species have been recorded in Georgia in the fall and winter. In fact, last year was a record season for winter hummingbirds.
