ObituariesWilliam Robert Perkins AmesWilliam Robert Perkins Ames, 55, Peachtree City, died Dec. 29, 1004. He was born May 7, 1949 in Hartford, Conn. He was reared in Philadelphia, Pa., graduated from Syracuse University in 1972 and has been an architect in the Atlanta area since that time. He was an architect and vice president for the Atlanta firm of Rosser International. He was a member of AIA, the Rotary Club of Peachtree City, and a planning commissioner for Peachtree City. Memorial services will be held at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chuck Hodges conducting the service. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Ames, Peachtree City; sons, Scott Nealey, Woodstock, Eric Ames, and Alex Ames, both of Peachtree City; his stepmother, Barbara Ames, Savannah; brothers, Russell E. Ames Jr., East Lansing, Mich., and Carter Ames, Portland, Ore.; and a sister, Kendall Wayner, Savannah. Ebenezer KirkEbenezer Eb Kirk, 80, Brooks, died Jan. 2, 2005. He was born Nov. 30, 1924 in Haralson County. He was a veteran of World War II and a recipient of a Purple Heart. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, John Trigg Wood IIIJohn Trigg Wood III, 50, Peachtree City, died Jan. 6, 2005. He was born June 27, 1954 in Baton Rouge, La. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Don Thurnau. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was awarded a master of business administration from Webster College. As a Distinguished Military graduate, he was commissioned in the United States Air Force ROTC as a 2nd lieutenant and served for 12 years on active duty with the United States Air Force Reserve, retiring as a LTC in 2004. As an Air Force Command pilot on a C-141, he served on humanitarian and military missions worldwide, including South American, Desert Storm, and Kosovo. He was a perpetual member of the Military Order of World Wars. He retired as a captain with 19 years with Delta Air Lines, flying domestic and international routes. Graveside services were at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City; and a memorial service will be held in Baton Rouge on Jan. 15th, at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Ellie Thurnau Wood, Peachtree City; daughters, Jessica and Suzie Wood; parents, J. Trigg and Bettye Baskin Wood; mother-in-law, Joy Thurnau; a brother, Thomas Wood; sisters, Amelia and Charlee Simpson, and Kathryn and Steve Merritt; nephews and nieces, Lauren Merritt, Andrew Merritt, Christian Merritt, Charity Ford, Cole Simpson, Michael Simpson, Ben Rogers, and Paul Rogers. Robert Edward McDonaldRobert Edward Mac McDonald, 79, Fayetteville, died Jan. 6, 2005. He was born June 27, 1925 in Roan County, N. C. He was a veteran of the United States Navy in World War II and was retired as a Chief Petty Officer with the United States Navy. He was also retired as an educator for the state of Florida and Georgia as well as from the Georgia Department of Education. Graveside services were at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Survivors include his wife, Judith Hitchcock McDonald, Fayetteville; a son, Robert McDonald Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara House, Elizabeth, Colo.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Interment was at Kings Cemetery, Riverdale. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn and Harold Ridley, Locust Grove; grandsons, Steve and Cheryl Skowronski, Peachtree City, and Mark and Helen Skowronski, Broadway, N. He was a graduate of the University of Utah, where he was a star baseball pitcher. He had worked at Noxell, an affiliate of Proctor & Gamble, Avia Shoe Company, and Addidas. He came to Georgia in 1991. Services were at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Peachtree City chapel, with Bishop Gary Moore and Bishop Larry Burgy officiating. Interment was at Murray City Cemetery in Utah. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Lee Thatcher Smartt, Peachtree City, whom he married Nov. 1, 1984; parents, Kenneth Donald and Earllyn Webb Smartt; daughters, Stephanie, Sarah, Megan, and Michelle; a brother, Steve; and sisters, Cheryl and Lynette.
