Abortion, baseball bats, hypocrites
By DOUG PATTON So much ado about nothing. I refer to the case of the two Michigan teenagers who did exactly what society and their parents have taught them to do. When their hormones raged, society told them to follow their passions and indulge in sexual experimentation. When that led to pregnancy, these two 16-year-olds once again followed the logical steps prescribed by society. They destroyed the baby. The fact that they chose to do it themselves with a baseball bat hardly seems relevant to the issue, but apparently, it is. The boy has been charged with a crime under Michigan law. It seems that such activity is illegal in Michigan. Of course, in this case, the girl willingly conspired to having her womb beaten with the bat by her boyfriend over a period of weeks in order to do what a doctor could have done without penalty of anything. But she cannot be charged with a crime, because to do so would be to admit that a woman can, in fact, be held accountable for destroying her unborn baby, and we cant have that, now can we? The girl faces no charges because, under Michigan law, only the person who carried out the action against the pregnant woman that results in a miscarriage or stillbirth is criminally liable, even if the woman consented. The whole incident would never have been discovered had the girl not spoken of it at a high school leadership conference. The adult facilitator of the conference contacted the Michigan State Police. Detectives from the state police Richmond Post investigated the claim, and went to the boyfriends home, where they found the buried fetus. Apparently, the boys mother helped him bury the tiny body in their back yard. So, why is either one of these kids being charged with a crime? The culture in which they grew up has taught them that a baby in the womb is an unviable tissue mass deserving of no more consideration than a mole. It is not life, according to the hypocrites who make our laws and sit on our courts and keep this abomination of abortion legal. So, whats the problem? Is it just that an abortionist was cheated out of his blood money? Of course, we all know the truth. It has become the elephant in the living room America is trying to avoid. It is the collision with reality that has been coming for three decades. This month will mark the 32nd anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision. One-third of an entire generation is dead because of this atrocious ruling. But equally chilling are those of that generation who have survived with an ethic of death to guide their lives. Their consciences are seared by parents who defend their outrageous actions and by a culture that encourages more of the same. These two kids did nothing wrong in 21st Century America. They have simply followed the mores of the society in which they were raised. As America loses its institutional memory of the days when abortion was considered to be murder by every thinking person, we will see more of the kind of behavior exhibited by these two teens. We, the baby boomers, have raised an entire generation to believe that when people become inconvenient, unproductive or a burden to society, they should simply be eliminated. It will serve us right when they get rid of us.
