First Presbyterian offers Winter Concert SeriesThe First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City will sponsor a Winter Concert Series over the next three months, featuring a variety of musical entertainment styles including rock and roll, barbershop quartet, sacred music, hymns sing-along, bluegrass, and big band jazz. Proceeds from the concerts will benefit the 2005 Youth Mexico Mission Trip Fund. Events are scheduled two Saturday evenings each in January, February and March at First Presbyterian Church Smith Hall. Evenings begin with dinner at 7 p.m., followed by entertainment at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 each. The concert schedule includes: Jan. 8 - BiggDawg, a rock and roll group which has been performing its smooth harmony and eclectic selections on the Southside for eight years. Jan. 15 - Masters of Note and The Harmony Brothers, two of several quartets combining to form the Southland Chorus, a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The program includes gospel favorites, patriotic songs, golden oldies from the 50s, 60s and 70s, and barbershop standards. Feb. 5 - Bill and Friends with Bill Killmeier, an All-American and sacred music program including love songs, duets of the 19th and 20th century, and classical sacred songs. Feb. 12 - Favorite Hymns Sing-A-Long. First Presbyterian Church music director David Stivers and pianist Sue Eutermoser lead an audience-choice evening of favorite hymns. March 5 - Brushfire, made up of members of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Honor and the Atlanta Society of Entertainers 2000 and 2001 Bluegrass Band of the Year, who have 27 years experience in the bluegrass music community. March 12 - Peachtree Jazz Edition, an 18-piece band with a female vocalist, playing music from the 30s and 40s Big Band era to modern pop-jazz tunes of the 90s, including arrangements by such artists as Glen Miller, Frank Sinatra, and Bobby Darrin.
