Where in Atlanta can you enjoy spectacular holiday lights, decorations, outdoor ice skating and holiday concerts? Centennial Olympic Park, in the heart of downtown Atlanta, of course.
“Holiday in Lights” opened last month and is providing fabulous holiday family fun through Jan. 2. The event has been expanded and features more lights than ever before.
The park is truly a winter wonderland of holiday magic and fun! This year, a partnership with Life University means even more lights adorn the areas from the Park to the Georgia World Congress Center and Georgia Dome. There will also be 5 specialty animated display trailers to delight the child in everyone.
“We are happy to share this [holiday] wonderland with the people of downtown Atlanta by way of our partnership with Centennial Olympic Park,” says Life University President Dr. Guy F. Riekeman.
Not only are there more lights, there is more room to figure eight while you ice skate! The ice skating rink is 400 square feet larger, and has been moved to the north end of the park to accommodate more visitors.
Located amidst a myriad of spectacular holiday decorations blanketing the park, the rink will feature covered seating and theatrical lighting on the ice. Large groups of 20 or more can skate for discounted rates, and accommodations for corporate holiday parties can also be made through the Park.
Located adjacent to the rink is the “Family and Friends” Photo Pavilion,. The pavilion is adorned with a 120-year-old sleigh and massive holiday decorum in which holiday memories are commemorated by professional photographers as family and friends gather for pictures.
From now through Jan 2., the ice skating rink and photo pavilion will open at 10 a.m. daily, and close at 10 p.m. Sunday - Thursday, and close at 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Skate to your favorite hits every Monday, Tuesday and Friday as 105.7 hosts “Cool Nights” every Monday night, and 94.9 hosts “Lite Nights” every Tuesday and Friday night.
Grab your neighbors, family and friends and get lost in the magic of holiday cheer at Holiday in Lights and the Ice Skating Rink - only at Centennial Olympic Park.
