Red Cross seeks help over holidaysWith the holiday season in full swing, the American Red Cross is trying to catch folks in the giving mood. In a new campaign, the agency points out that disasters dont wait over the holiday season. The agency relies heavily on donations for its many services, including disaster relief. Its efforts for those affected by the recent hurricanes sheltered 425,000 people and more than 16 million meals were served. In addition to disaster relief, the Red Cross offers CPR programs, first aid training, support for the military and their families and maintenance of an adequate blood supply for patients. Donations can be made online at www.redcross.org or by phone at 1-800-HELP-NOW (1-800-435-7669) or by mail at American Red Cross, Disaster Relief Fund, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C., 20013. |
