12 Fayette teachers earn highest credentialNational Board Certification, the highest credential in the teaching profession, has been earned by 12 more Fayette County educators, bringing the total systemwide to 58. The 2004 recipients represent a cross section of elementary, middle and high schools from throughout the county. They include: Kathy Carnow, Oak Grove Elementary; Gayle Higley, Rising Starr Middle; Carolyn Jones, Fayette Middle; Laura Lachance, Brooks Elementary; Peggy Leonard, Flat Rock Middle; Suzanne Lusk, Fayette Middle; Kimber McDermid, Rising Starr Middle; Jamie Norred, Flat Rock Middle; Deborah Rasnake, Fayette County High; Jane Marie Stilwell, Sandy Creek High; Michelle Tarpley, Fayetteville Intermediate and Jane Turner Hannon, Hood Avenue Primary/Fayetteville Intermediate. National Board Certification is a voluntary process established by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Certification is achieved through a rigorous performance-based assessment that takes between one and three years to complete and measures what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. |
