Starrs Mill sweeps McIntoshBy MICHAEL BOYLAN
Starrs Mill hosted McIntosh last night and swept their rivals from up the road. The Lady Panthers evened their record at 3-3 with a 45-25 win over the Lady Chiefs. Coach Whitt Jones was pleased with the way his team spread the offense around. Angela Garza led the team with 10 points while Shannon Dougherty and Kirstin Massmann each scored seven points and Katreesa Rollins added six points. The Starrs Mill boys overcame a shaky start to get a 55-22 win over the Chiefs. It was their second win of the year. The Panthers had a 19-14 lead at the half and then outscored Mcntosh 22-3 in the third quarter. Eleven members of the Starrs Mill team scored and Coach Dave Edinger was pleased with the way his team responded after the half. Mark Harris led the team in scoring with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Nick Plotner scored all of his 10 points in the third quarter. Harris, Plotner and Todd Oakley led the charge defensively which created good looks for the Panthers. Starrs Mill will play at Chapel Hill tomorrow at 6 & 7:30 p.m. and will host Stockbridge on Tuesday at 6 & 7:30 p.m. McIntoshs boys and girls will play at East Coweta tomorrow night at 6 &7:30 p.m. Also, the score of the Fayette County and Sandy Creek boys game was reported incorrectly in Wednesdays paper. The Patriots did not lose to the Tigers. They won 79-75. They are now 6-2 on the season.
