Items go unclaimed at school

The “lost and found” is a huge issue at J.C. Booth Middles School. The scope and magnitude of the Lost and Found is probably replicated at other middle schools and probably even the other elementary schools in Fayette County. This picture is for only the past six weeks.

The school’s PTO volunteer, Patty Wilson, said they set everything out for lost and found four times per year for the students to claim their lost items, but majority of the lost items are never claimed. She was amazed that none of these items have names on them.

Many of these items are very expensive name brand things and it’s hard to believe that parents don’t even know anythings lost. There are at least 50 outerwear jackets and 20 pairs of shoes for the past six weeks alone.

It has become such an issue at J.C. Booth Middle School that the Beta Club has offered to use it as a service project. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity.
