Fairburn residents will soon see a different landscape in an old part of town.

Margaret, Dodd, Aderhold, and Golightly streets have long been known to residents as an area prone to drug traffic. In addition, many homes in the area were dilapidated and in poor repair.

All of that is about to change. Developers Chingh Nguyen and Brian Cadarette held a ground breaking ceremony last week amid the rain and mud for the New Homes In Town project. The project will bring a new face to the neighborhood along with revitalization.

Nguyen first came to Fairburn two years ago to purchase one home when he became familiar with the neighborhood. He immediately recognized a need for rehabilitation and with his partner began to purchase homes and land there. With the goal of one day transforming the area, several homes were razed to provide a blank canvas for new development.

“The vision started small but has grown exponentially,” says Nguyen. Partner Brian Cadarette gives special recognition to the Fairburn Police Department.

“Without the Fairburn Police this project would never have become a reality. They have cleaned up the area and brought stability to the neighborhood. I believe in five years we’ll look back and be very proud of this project.”

Fairburn Mayor Betty Hannah and City Manager Jim Williams were in attendance at the ground breaking event.

With a smile on her face, Mayor Hannah said, “This is real dream come true, an answered prayer.”

She commented that as Mayor for 16 years, revitalization of the area has always been on her agenda.

Police officer Alex Heath, who also represents AHM Mortgage in Peachtree City was also pleased.

“Pride of ownership is always exciting to see in any neighborhood and we’re really looking forward to bringing it here.”

AHM Mortgage will be offering financing options to homeowners.

Marketing the properties for sale is Sandy Cruder at Century 21 Scarbrough Properties who explained that there will be about 30 new homes in all and priced in the low $100ks. New refrigerators are also being offered as a closing incentive for a limited time. Sandy stated, “All the parties involved in the process have come together in a true partnership to bring about a quality project for the Fairburn community.”
