Fairburns Greg Dailey didnt need the Bat signal to alert him. And even though he works for Bell South, there was no time for phone booths. He simply pulled his vehicle to the side of the road and leapt into action Nov. 30.
I just hope someone would do the same for me, Dailey said when asked why he decided to help Sergeant Lisa Allen apprehend a female suspect fleeing the scene of an accident. Dailey noticed the squad car and damaged vehicle on U.S. Highway 29 in Fairburn. He initially stopped to see if anyone was hurt or needed help. Before he knew it, he was chasing the suspect on foot and tackled her to the ground.
Dailey has taken a lot of ribbing at work since the incident, but he also was recognized by the City of Fairburn Monday evening with a plaque expressing the gratitude of the Mayor, Council and Police Department for his act of valor. Public Safety Director Walt Brown presented the plaque and he received a standing ovation from those present.
His wife asked Dailey if he had considered the danger of the situation. My adrenaline was pumping. I didnt stop to think, he said.
