Knight honored by GAHBAChris Knight, vice president of The Knight Group and former president of the Metro South chapter of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, was recognized as 2004 Chapter President of the Year at the recent Professionalism Awards Banquet. The 24th annual black-tie awards dinner and program took place Nov. 6 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Sponsoring the event were the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council. The theme of this years event was Success in the City. At the awards presentation, it was noted that Chris Knight, after working in his family business for most of his growing-up years, joined the company full-time as vice president following his graduation from Bob Jones University in 1998. His college major was marketing, and he handles new product development, product improvement, model merchandising, advertising, governmental affairs and information technology. He served two years as president of the Metro South Chapter of the HBA. During his time as leader of the chapter, the group sponsored and participated in an ambitious program of community service activities, and he also served as a HomeAid Atlanta Builder Captain for the renovation of Tapestry House, which houses teenage girls and their babies. Chris is an active member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Stockbridge, where he works with the church's youth. He lives in Hampton with his wife Joy, daughter Karis, and newborn son Seth. Knight was named as 2004 Chapter President of the Year by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association for his dedication, service and commitment to Atlanta's housing industry. The annual awards program gives members the association the opportunity to compete with their industry professionals in building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement areas. This year, a select group industry professionals traveled to Atlanta from across the United States during August to judge the more than 700 entries in this years competition. The Knight Group is one of the south Atlanta area's most active home builders and currently builds and develops in Clayton, Henry, DeKalb, Newton, Carroll, Houston, and South Fulton counties. The company was listed at number 22 in the Atlanta Business Chronicle's annual ranking of Atlanta's Top 25 Home Builders. In addition, Chris Knight, his father Scott, his uncle Perry and his first cousin Jay were listed in the Chronicle's Who's who of Residential Real Estate. Throughout the years, The Knight Group has been a frequent recipient of Professionalism Awards from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, with many of these coming during Chris Knights time as a top executive of the company. |
