Landmark volleyball alums return, face offThe Berry College and Covenant College volleyball teams played a recent match on the campus of Landmark Christian School in Fairburn. The match featured two Landmark graduates, former teammates and Fayette County residents: C.J. Eisenberg, class of 2001, now playing for Covenant; and Ruthie Stacks, class of 2003, now a member of the Berry team. Berry defeated Covenant in three games. Eisenberg and Stacks were both named Setter of the Week in their respective conferences this season. Eisenberg was named to the All-Conference team and All-Region teams, and Stacks was also named to the Southern States Athletic Conference second All-Conference team and the Conference All-Academic team. One other former Landmark volleyball player taking part in the match was Covenant's coach, Krista Steere. Landmark has a strong, successful volleyball tradition, currently led by Coach Barb Mason, and has produced many college scholarship recipients. One of those alumna is Wendy Weaver, LCS class of 1999, now the varsity volleyball coach at McIntosh High School. The Tsunami Junior Volleyball Club, whose teams practice at Landmark, has also played an integral part for the last five years in building the sport of womens volleyball on the Southside. Stacks played for the Tsunami club, and Eisenberg was a coach in its inaugural year. Tad Sahara, who led the Woodward varsity team to a state championship this season, was one of the founders and the former director of Tsunami.
