National Heights sets banquet, concert, cantata

Members of National Heights Baptist Church will have their annual Christmas banquet and an organ concert by Hugh Waddy Wednesday, Dec. 15. The banquet begins at 6 p.m. with the concert scheduled to follow at 7 p.m. The Christmas Cantata, “The Promise of the King,” will be Sunday, Dec. 19, at the 10:55 a.m. service. ‘A Christmas Carol’ reading set for Dec. 17

The St. Luke Players of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in McDonough will present a dramatic reading (in costume with minimal props) by a cast of ten of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” Friday Dec. 17 and Saturday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. Champagne, punch and sweets will be served following the performance. Trip to governor’s mansion planned

The S.A.G.E. group (senior citizens) at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will travel to the Governor’s Mansion Friday, Dec. 17, leaving the church parking lot at 8:30 a.m. The tour is at 10 a.m. and the group will eat lunch at the Colonnade afterwards. Southside Baptist to present cantata Dec. 19

The Southside Baptist Church Choir will present the birth of Christ cantata in song and scripture, based on Luke, chapter two, at the 10:45 a.m. worship service, Sunday, Dec. 19. Christmas musical scheduled at The Avenue

The Peachtree City Christian Church will present a free musical celebration of the birth of Christ, “Because of Bethlehem” at the center gazebo at The Avenue in Peachtree City, Sunday, Dec. 19, from 6-7 p.m. The presentation will include the church’s 40-voice choir and children’s choir. FUMC plans Candlelight Dinner Dec. 19

Members of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will have a Candlelight Christmas Dinner Sunday Dec. 19, with seating beginning at 4:45 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and tables for eight people are available for $150. Sam’s group heads for Stone Mountain Dec. 20

The Sam’s group (senior citizens) at Fayetteville Christian Church will travel to Stone Mountain Monday, Dec. 20, to have dinner and view the laser show. The group will leave the church at 3 p.m. and will return after the laser show. The cost of $12 per person includes admission to the park and transportation. Liberty to offer coffee for commuters

Liberty Baptist Church will begin a new community ministry in January of 2005. Beginning Jan. 6, the church will offer free cups of coffee to all commuters every Thursday morning from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Liberty Baptist Church is at 1077 Hwy. 314, Fayetteville.

Body of Christ plans WatchNight service

The Body of Christ Church International, U.S.A., will have a WatchNight service, Friday, Dec. 31, at 9 p.m. Holy Communion will be observed and childcare will be provided. FFUMC offers cancer support group

Fayetteville First United Methodist Church hosts a cancer support group each month for those who have been recently diagnosed or for those who are cancer survivors. Senior group meets monthly at FFUMC

Titus II, a senior adult group, meets at noon on the first Tuesday of each month in the family Life Center at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. A meal, entertainment and guest speaker are featured. Lunch is $4 per person and reservations must be received by Thursday before the meeting.
