Christ the King to host two Christmas servicesTwo services of worship will be offered on Christmas Eve at Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg. For the ninth year in a row, the church will sponsor a community Christmas Eve communion service that is open to persons of all denominations and to those who are currently without a church home. In 2003, more than 200 people attended the service, which meant that every seat was full. This year, in anticipation of a larger crowd, two services are bring offered, one at 6 p.m. and one at 9 p.m. A nursery is not offered for these services and children are welcome in the sanctuary as families continue or begin a Christmas tradition. The 6 p.m. service will be conducted with children in mind, as most parents are expected to bring their smaller children to the earlier service. The 9 p.m. service is being conducted with adults in mind, although smaller children are welcome. The services will feature Christmas carols, scripture reading, prayers, a short message by Father David Epps, and the celebration of Holy Communion or Holy Eucharist. An offering for missions also will be received during the service. Christ the King is at 4881 Ga. Hwy. 34 East, between Peachtree City and Newnan.
