Local business helping troopsDuring the month of October, the ladies of Curves of Fayetteville were busy gathering goodies for our troops in Iraq. The idea was given birth in September when Capt. Brandon Williams, son of Gene and Hazel Williams of Fayette County, was deployed to the Middle East. Brandons mother, Hazel, is an assistant at the Curves of Fayetteville. Brandon is a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1996 and is 2000 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Brandon is married to Lauren Johnson, who is also a graduate of Sandy Creek High School and the University of Georgia. Lauren is teaching seventh grade in Goldsboro, N.C., while Brandon is in the Middle East. The ladies of Curves in Fayetteville donated items such as hard candy, razors, disposable wipes, stationary, playing cards, games, disposable cameras, Gatorade, band aids, aspirin and power bars. There were enough supplies donated to fill ten large boxes. The boxes were sent to Brandon the first week of November so the items were distributes among his fellow service members in time for Christmas. |
