SCHS assistant principal wins district awardSharlene Patterson of Sandy Creek High School has been named the 2005 Assistant Principal of the Year for District G by the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals. Patterson, in her fourth year at Sandy Creek, has worked to increase the number of students participating and courses taught in the advanced placement program. Some of her other duties include the schools character education program, the Governors Honors Program, graduation and senior events and school improvement. With Pattersons help, Sandy Creek was recognized as one of Newsweek magazines top 1,000 high schools in the nation. Patterson is also a member of the Cultural Leadership Alliance for Student Success, which helps educators recognize different cultures within our schools and helps them become stronger cultural allies in our ever-changing society. She is married to Jeff Patterson, an assistant principal at Rising Starr Middle School, and they have two children, Dylan and Dean. District G consists of eight counties including Butts, Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, Henry, Pike Spalding and south Fulton. |
