Glenn joins Georgia Public Policy FoundationDylan Glenn has joined the Georgia Public Policy Foundation as a Senior Fellow.Glenn has been intimately involved in public policy for more than 15 years. He was deputy chief of staff to Gov. Sonny Perdue from inauguration until September 2003, when he left to pursue Georgia's 8th Congressional District open seat. That seat eventually was won by Republican former state Rep. Lynn Westmoreland. Glenn, a policy analyst in the White House Office of Domestic Policy during the presidency of George H.W. Bush, also served two years as special assistant to President George W. Bush in the White House, during which time he was on the National Economic Council advising the President on economic and domestic policy concerns. Glenn received his Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College in North Carolina in 1991 before working in Washington in public relations and political consulting. He is a founder of The Earth Conservation Corps, a White House initiative under President George H.W. Bush that provides opportunity to at-risk youth through environmental conservation work. Glenn has served since the non-profit's inception on its Board of Directors, including a stint as chairman. Glenn also was special advisor to the Commission on Minority Business Development; an advisor to the chairman of Republican National Conventions in 1992 and 1996 and a traveling press aide to GOP vice-presidential nominee Jack Kemp in 1996. In 2000, as the GOP nominee for the 2nd Congressional District race, Glenn won the highest number of votes ever cast for a Republican in the southwest Georgia district. Glenn was founder and director of the South Georgia Economic Development Corporation, formed to assist economic growth in the poorest part of Georgia. In that capacity, he was involved with educational reform and was a major player in bringing innovative reading programs into several school systems in South Georgia. In October 1999, Georgia Trend Magazine named Dylan Glenn one of the 40 outstanding Georgians under 40. "Dylan's hands-on experience in government and policy development will be a tremendous advantage to the Foundation's public policy analysis," said Foundation President Rogers Wade, whose background includes decades in Washington public affairs. "And with his background, we can be sure he'll do Georgia proud in promoting the philosophy of fiscal conservatism." The Georgia Public Policy Foundation is an independent think tank that proposes practical, market-oriented approaches to public policy to improve the lives of Georgians. The Foundation is ranked No. 1 for highest integrity and one of the top three most knowledgeable among the state's associations or business organizations in the November-December 2004 issue of James magazine. |
