McIntosh lost to Henry County 58-21, but defeated Upson Lee 56-18 last Wednesday. Winners for the Chiefs against Henry County were: Richard Hughes (103), pin; Doug Taylor (125), 15-8; Davarion Smith (140), 6-2; and Darryl Walton (215), pin. Hughes, Taylor, Smith and Walton all picked up wins against Upson Lee, as did Jessy Toscano (119), pin; Carl Scheumann (130), pin; Matt Penn (135), 8-3; Jeff Patrie (152), pin; and Adam Dale (189), pin.
They also wrestled in the Lithia Springs Invitational last weekend and placed 12th overall. The only placewinner for the Chiefs was Scott Ritter, who took third place.
In the Walton Duals last weekend, Starrs Mill went 2-3. The Panthers picked up wins against Rockmart (64-9) and McCallie (43-30) but lost to Pope (34-33), McEachern (60-16) and Sequoyah (41-30).
Both Patrick Kellerman (160) and Jeff Partlow (215) went 5-0 on the day. Partlow had three pins, a forfeit and a major decision, 12-4 against McEachern. Kellerman had a major decision against Pope, 10-2; a forfeit against Rockmart, a pin against Sequoyah and decisions against McCallie, 6-5 and McEachern, 4-0. Bradley Connor and Stephen Savage went 4-1. Two of Connors wins came by pin while the other two came by forfeit. Savage won one by pin, one by forfeit, one a 7-2 decision against Sequoyah and the other a 8-0 major decision against Pope.
Kevin OBrien (103), Matt Hartpence (152) and Brandon Witta (145) all had three wins on the day. Other Panther wrestlers getting wins at Walton were Chris Sudduth (171), David Edison (189) and D.J. Wright (125), each with two wins, and Ryan Jones (135), Keagon Overton (119) and Joey Hoyt (112) each with one win.
On Tuesday night the Panthers picked up three more wins by defeating Columbia, 50-13; Wesleyan, 60-10 and Woodward Academy 44-22. In the matches against Columbia and Wesleyan, winners were OBrien, Hoyt, Overton, Wright, Savage, Jones, Witta, Hartpence, Kellerman, Partlow and Connor. Matt Milner (189) picked up a win against Wesleyan with a pin. The winners in the match against Woodward were: OBrien by forfeit, Overton and Savage by technical fall, Cory Radcliffe (140) by major decision 12-1, Witta by decision 9-5, Hartpence by decision 8-1, Kellerman, Partlow and Connor by pin.
Kellerman and Partlow are both 13-0 on the season and Savage and Connor are both 12-1. Wright is 8-1, Hartpence is 11-2, OBrien is 8-2 and Witta is 10-3. The Panthers are 10-3 on the year and will wrestle in the South Metro Invitational at Union Grove High School today beginning at 5 p.m. and tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m. other local schools wrestling in the tournament will be Fayette County, McIntosh, Sandy Creek and Whitewater.
