Job recognition luncheon setPersons who made great strides training for, and finding, work in 2004 through Fulton County will be honored December 14 at the 8th Annual Job Recognition and Appreciation Luncheon. Hosted by Fultons Office of Workforce Development (OWD), the invitation-only luncheon will be held noon-2 p.m. at Holiday Inn Select, Atlanta Capitol Plaza, 450 Capitol Avenue, Atlanta. The OWD, which helps persons of all skill and experience levels search and prepare for public and private sector jobs, served a record 11,940 Fulton County residents this year with the help of more than 250 business partners. An Employee and Employer of the Year will be named. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Helen Parker, regional administrator, U.S. Department of Labor. Also attending will be Ralph Cleveland, chairman of the Fulton County Workforce Investment Board and vice president of the Atlanta Gas Light Company; Cynthia Robinson, director of Workforce Development, Georgia Department of Labor; Dr. Brenda Jones, president of Atlanta Technical College; John Boothby, executive director, South Fulton Chamber of Commerce; and members of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners. A division of the Fulton County Human Services Department, the OWD operates four career centers in downtown Atlanta, Roswell, College Park and Fairburn.
