Now that voters in Senoia have approved liquor by the drink, the revenues should start flowing into City Hall.
During Monday nights City Council meeting, City Councilman Bill Wood asked that next years budget be amended by $14,300 to account for expected license fees for serving liquor.
Senoia was the latest city in Coweta County to approve liquor by the drink sales during Novembers election, but the city still has to draw up the official ordinance. City Clerk Debby Hogan said the first licensee is probably still a few months away.
In other news, the city agreed to the new sales tax agreement. The city of Sharpsburg will now be sharing in the proceeds generated by the Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) of Coweta County.
The tax revenue is now being divided seven ways with Newnan and Coweta County getting the largest shares. Sharpsburgs .42 percent of the pie is taken from the countys share which drops from 73.38 percent to 72.96 percent. Newnan remains at 21.89 percent.
Amounts for the other four cities are: Senoia at 2.34 percent; Grantville at 1.76 percent; Palmetto at .44 percent; and Haralson at .19 percent.
