PTC offers junior golf tournament, Dec. 17FORE!The Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department is hosting their second annual Peachtree City Junior Golf Championship on Friday, Dec. 17 at the Flat Creek Golf Club in Peachtree City. Tee times will begin at 10 a.m. There are 4 divisions: Boys ages 13-15, girls ages 13-15, boys ages 16-18 and girls ages 16-18. Girls also have the option to compete in the boys division if they wish. Junior golf is very big in this area, so when I started working for the Peachtree City Recreation Department in 2003, I really wanted to offer a nice golf tournament for juniors in the off season, said Tournament Director Art Sivertsen. I was hoping to still squeeze it in again this year, because it was so successful in 2003. added Sivertsen. Seth Bales shot a two under 70 last year to win the older boys division by six strokes. Alan Kepple shot an 83 and won the 13-14 year old division by three strokes. Hopefully Ill get some girls this year, because last year we didnt have any said Sivertsen. Of course the weather is a toss up, but Im hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. As wet as the courses are now, we will probably play lift, clean, and place. The tournament is open to any junior golfer between the ages of 13-18, that have an established USGA Handicap and GHIN number. If entrant doesn't have a GHIN number their average 18 hole score must be verified by their home golf pro. The fee is $25 for Fayette County Residents and $37.50 for out of county. Trophies and prizes will be awarded based on the size of the field. For more information, or for an application please contact Art Sivertsen at 770 486-2936 or email youth@peachtree-city.org. The registration deadline is Wednesday Dec. 15.
