Longtime loan officer Tony Evans called on his years of experience arranging financing for buyers of manufactured homes to write Manufactured Home Financing: How to Get the Best Deal on the Planet for Financing Your Manufactured Home.
The book is a guide for people considering the purchase of a manufactured, or factory-built, home. Evans builds a case for choosing a manufactured home over stick-built and then walks readers through the process of buying and financing one. He focuses on financing available through the federal governments Rural Housing Guaranteed Loan Program.
The book is published by Van der Plas Publications and sells for $14.95 in paperback. It can be ordered directly from the publisher at 877-353-1207 or www.vanderplas.net.
Lint-free drying
A reader e-mailed me a few weeks back, looking for a product to clean out dryer vents that he had seen on TV a wand that attached to a vacuum cleaner.
I couldnt find that product, but I did discover the Lint Eater, a rotary tool that attaches instead to a power driver.
Ive always been an advocate of regular lint-trap cleaning. I clean ours before I use the dryer every time, aware that whats in the trap is just the lint that hasnt escaped to the vent.
The Lint Eater system uses a large horsehair brush that attaches to flexible rods in a series of sizes to reach the length of any vent. The rods attach to any cordless drill, twisting the lint upward and out. A vacuum attachment can blow out any remaining lint.
You can also use the Lint Eater to clean under other tough-to-reach places, such as baseboards, downspouts or the ever-inaccessible space under the refrigerator.
Lint Eater retails for $39.95 (power driver not included). Information and ordering: 888-985-0208 or www.linteater.com.
