Amanda Lee Whatley and Rhett Aaron Ammons, both of Atlanta, were married Oct. 2, 2004, at St. Peters Episcopal Church. Jerry Zeller of Jasper performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of David and Marsha Whatley of Rome. The groom is the son of Jack and Ronda Ammons of Rome, formerly of Peachtree City.
A program of wedding music was provided by Suzanne Scott.
Beth Mullins of Chattanooga, Tenn., was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Melissa Whatley of Woodstock, Scarlett King of Fayetteville, Liz Mathis of Cartersville, Jaime Duck of Rome and Julia Brock of Tallahassee, Fla.
The bride, escorted by her father, chose a white strapless A-line gown featuring a side drape tier beaded bodice and chapel-length train. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of black magic roses.
The father of the groom was best man. Groomsmen were Greg King of Fayetteville, Chad Whatley of Woodstock, Troy Mullins of Chattanooga, Tim Morgan of Temple and Wayne Duck of Rome.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Forrest Place.
The evening before the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the grooms parents at Magretta Hall.
Other prenuptial parties included a miscellaneous shower hosted by MelissaWhatley and Robin Holley at the Whatley home; a miscellaneous shower given by the brides coworkers in Atlanta; a bachelor party given by Greg King including a weekend rafting trip in the North Georgia mountains with the groomsmen; and a bachelorette shower given by Liz Mathis and Jaime Duck with a weekend trip with the bridesmaids.
The couple resides in Atlanta.
Childers-Sheehan
Bill and Susan (Childers) Minter of Peachtree City announce the marriage of their daughter, Barbara Susan Childers, to Joseph Anthony Sheehan, son of Michael and Mary Sheehan of Alexandria, Va., on Nov. 13, 2004 in Richmond, Va.
The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Barber of Fayetteville (formerly of Norfolk, Va.) and the late Frank Barber, and of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Childers of Chesapeake, Va. She is a 1997 graduate of McIntosh High School and a 2001 graduate of the University of Georgia with a bachelors degree in social work. She is currently enrolled in the masters program in social work at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., and will graduate in May 2005 with an MSW and a certificate in aging studies.
The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Catherine Anderton of Alexandria, Va. and the late Dan Anderton. He is a 1999 graduate of Thomas Edison High School in Alexandria, Va., and a 2002 graduate of TESST College in Alexandria, Va. He is currently the IT manager at National Science Foundation Federal Credit Union in Arlington, Va.
The couple honeymooned in the Caribbean and will reside in Richmond, Va., with future plans to relocate to the Atlanta area.
A celebration party will be held at the home of the brides parents on Dec. 26, 2004.
