Gordon College schedules Campus Visit Day for Feb.For many teenagers, the coming of winter not only heralds Christmas and a new year, but also the time when college choices must be made. As a result, Gordon College in Barnesville is offering students and their parents a chance to learn more about the two-year school during February. Campus activities allow prospective students the opportunity to tour our beautiful campus and visit with faculty and students, school officials said. Gordon College provides students with a great academic environment while preparing them for success as they pursue four-year degrees or specific occupations and careers, such as nursing and applied science. Campus Visit Day has been set for Feb. 25, 2005, from 1-3 p.m., beginning in the Fine Arts Building with opening remarks by Gordon President Lawrence Weill. However, participants should plan to arrive early. Refreshments will be served at 12:30. Students and parents will then split into two sessions. Patricia Lemmons, director of enrollment services, along with Hal Wilkinson, admissions counselor, will meet with parents in the auditorium. Other key personnel will be on hand, including the registrar and director of financial aid. Brian Gipson, director of admissions, and Tonya Coleman, assistant vice president of student affairs and director of residence life, and others will address prospective students in Alumni Hall. Speaking at locations around campus, Gordon faculty members will focus on the schools academic programs from 2-2:30 p.m. Humanities will be the topic in Room 114 of the Academic Building, and visitors can learn more about mathematics and the natural sciences in Room 310 of the Instructional Complex. Two additional talks are planned: a discussion of business and social sciences in Room 201 of Russell Hall, and one on nursing and other medical careers in Rooms 210 and 204 of Smith Hall. Campus and residence hall tours will follow. Call the admissions office at 770-358-5021 to make reservations. Gordon College, a unit of the University System of Georgia, enrolls more than 3,400 students, with approximately 600 of those living in residence hall on campus.
