Audience members at the upcoming Starrs Mill High School Holiday Choral Concert will enjoy much more than an evening of beautiful holiday choral music.
They will also have the opportunity to do some early holiday gift shopping as they contribute to the support of college choral scholarships.
Before the December 9 concert at Willie Duke Auditorium, and during intermission, the Starr's Mill Choral Booster Club will present its annual Silent Auction Scholarship Fundraiser. Silent Auction Chairperson and chorus member parent, Cheryl Dietmeyer says that this year's auction will be even bigger and better than last year. Already the Auction Committee has collected and prepared more than 70 beautifully wrapped gift boxes full of wonderful holiday gift items from parent and student donations and also contributions from local merchants. Gift boxes include holiday decorations, bath and personal care luxury items, gourmet food and sweets, sports packages and entertainment items. Monies raised from the silent auction will be used to fund college scholarships for Starr's Mill Choral students who choose to continue their study of choral music in college. Last years auction raised $3,200 for scholarships which were distributed at spring award ceremonies.
The SMHS Choral Department and The Silent Auction Committee invite the community to enjoy a wonderful evening of holiday choral music showcasing the vocal talent of Starr's Mill High School. Preview and early bidding on the auction items begins at 6:15 p.m. The holiday concert will commence at 7:30 p.m. Willie Duke Auditorium is located within the Starr's Mill High School Building located at 193 Panther Path in Fayetteville. Admission is free.
