Its a familiar experience to a lot of parents. Trying to direct a group of children in a Christmas play for the amusement of friends and family can become a frantic, if not daunting feat. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at the Newnan Community Theater Company follows the trials and tribulations of the Bradley family as their mother is thrust into the role of director and organizer of the annual church Christmas Pageant. And to make matters worse, she is forced to cast the leads with the most unruly, unmannered and unholy group of kids in town - the Herdmans! From the classic book by the same name, author Barbara Robinson presents us with the hilarious story of the efforts of a woman and her husband to put on the annual church Christmas pageant despite having to cast the Herdman kids. Watch the mayhem (and the fun) as the Herdmans probably the meanest, nastiest, most inventively awful kids in the history of the world meet the Christmas story in a head-on collision!
Directed by Dave Dorrell, the show runs just over an hour long, a perfect way to kick off the holiday season with even the youngest members your family.
We have set our telling of this story during a time when life was simpler, perhaps the forties, or even the fifties, certainly before video games, cell phones, and the internet took over our lives. This is a time when good manners were paramount, and small children were expected to be ladies and gentlemen in public (especially at church). Dorrell said
