Fayetteville police are on the lookout for a man who robbed the GNC vitamin store in the Fayette Pavilion in broad daylight Tuesday and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Detective Steve Crawshaw said details surrounding the incident were still sketchy. However, he explained that a black man about 5 feet, 9 inches tall entered the vitamin store about 2 p.m., brandished a silver handgun and demanded money.
The gun-wielding man tied up a store clerk and collected the stolen cash. Crawshaw said the woman was not injured during the hold-up. No other injuries were reported.
She was tied up, but it was very loose, Crawshaw explained. She was able to free herself.
Wearing a gray shirt and khaki pants, the brazen thief left the store located at 137 Pavilion Parkway. His direction of travel and mode of transportation were unknown.
This is the first reported armed robbery in the city since the Christmas shopping season kicked off Nov. 26.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery should call the Fayetteville Police Department at (770) 461-4441.
