Tips from neighbors regarding suspected drug activity in their community led to the arrest of a Peachtree City man Nov. 30.
Marcelo Vergara-Ramirez, 25, of Grenoble Road, Peachtree City, was charged with distribution of cocaine after a drug bust Tuesday morning, Peachtree City Police Chief James Murray said.
On Nov. 30, the Peachtree City Police Department executed a search warrant on a home in the Grenoble Road area, Murray said. According to police, there has been an ongoing investigation in reference to suspected drug activity at that location.
During the raid an unspecified quantity of cocaine and drug paraphernalia were confiscated from the home, $700 in cash was seized, and Vergara-Ramirez was taken into custody.
Murray attended the Magistrate Court hearing for the suspect and expressed his concerns for the illegal activity being conducted in Peachtree City.
Acting on Murrays suggestion, the Magistrate Court judge refused to grant bond to Vergara-Ramirez. Vergara-Ramirex will remain in the Fayette County Jail, pending future court appearances, officials said.
The case is ongoing. More arrests and charges are imminent, Murray indicated.
